A look into environmental journalism in North Africa

Journalists working in the domain of the environment in Morocco, Algeria and Tunisia met in Rabat on the 29 and 30 June 2012 to discuss and analyze their training needs and networking in the region.

The Mohammed VI Foundation for the Protection of the Environment (FM6E), chaired by HRH the Princess Lalla Hasna, organized in partnership with the IUCN Centre for Mediterranean Cooperation, a meeting bringing together young journalists from North Africa.

This meeting has put an end to the first distance training course delivered via an e-learning platform, which began in March 2012. The framework project aims at building the Capacity of Young  Communication professionals in North Africa in the field of sustainable development and is funded by the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID).

Qualified communication professionals supported by a scientific committee have participated in this initiative, which is now exploring ways to create a regional professional network better prepared to communicate the importance of biodiversity conservation in the region.
