December 2012

Bridging policy makers and science

Several initiatives by the participating organizations were aimed at reaching out to communicate the project´s activities, achievements and results.

The inception meeting of SPINCAM II (Southeast Pacific Data and Information Network in Support to Integrated Coastal Area Management) held in Santiago de Chile on 5-6 November was an opportunity to present the PEGASO project.

Ann-Katrien Lescrauwaet, representing the work carried out by the Government of Flanders and PEGASO, gave a presentation on European experience in developing a common framework of coastal indicators and the regional atlas. A discussion took place with participants to identify best practices that could be applied to SPINCAM, and potential areas for collaboration and exchange with PEGASO and similar projects.
