53 projects shortlisted for the 2nd phase of the Small-Scale Initiatives Programme for Civil Society Organizations in North Africa

The call for proposals issued by the IUCN Centre for Mediterranean Cooperation (IUCN-Med) in the framework of the Small-Scale Initiatives Programme for Civil Society Organizations in North Africa (PPI-OSCAN) resulted in 248 projects submitted by organizations in Algeria (55 applications), Libya (10 applications), Morocco (78 applications) and Tunisia (105 applications).

The members of the evaluation committee carefully examined all projects that were received by the deadline and met both the call requirements and the selection criteria for project summaries. Fifty-three of the projects were shortlisted for the second phase. PPI-OSCAN targets civil society organizations founded at least five years ago and those which have not received financial support in excess of 25,000 euros over the past three years.

CSOs whose proposals have been shortlisted will be contacted by their PPI-OSCAN national coordinators to begin the second phase. In this phase they will prepare and complete the full proposal according to the model to be sent to them together with other administrative documents. These CSOs will learn how to prepare the required project document at information sessions to be organized by the four national Programme coordinators based in Algiers, Tripoli, Rabat and Tunis.

PPI-OSCAN is co-funded by the French Global Environment Facility and the MAVA Foundation, and aims at strengthening young CSOs in Algeria, Libya, Morocco and Tunisia in the field of environment through the implementation of projects on the ground and participation in several thematic training sessions. The programme is coordinated by the IUCN Centre for Mediterranean Cooperation.

A list of the shortlisted projects is available here.
