Dragana Saveljić, 23 years old - volunteer, biology student

1. What motivated you to became volunteer on this project?
Motivation to become a volunteer was the desire to get involved with other activities besides studying. I am very interested in learning about plants so, one more reason for volunteering was the fact that the project is related to plants and habitat protection. Also, I live in Podgorica, which is only half an hour drive away from Scadar Lake, which is my favourite place in Montenegro and I was pleased to participate in conservation actions in this area.

2. Did you learn something new and useful through volunteer activities?

Volunteering in this project gave me the opportunity to learn more about plant species in Montenegro, the protected and rare species, as well as invasive species.

3. What are your impressions from the field visits and actions?
Field activities were particularly interesting. I would single out a field visit to Vrsuta where we had a chance to see a unique flowering population of plant species Gymnospermium scipetarum which is the Montenegrin-Albanian endemic. On other field visits, we learned about invasive species on Skadar Lake and psamofitic vegetation on the Long beach in Ulcinj.

4. Would you like to continue volunteering on this project?
I would like to continue volunteering on this project and I hope that I will make it due to my obligations.
