The Khenifiss National Park Associative Network won the Lalla Hasnaa Trophy of sustainable coastline on March 6th, 2017, at the Palais des Congrès of Skhirat, Morocco. The project 'Ecotourism for the conservation of biodiversity of the Khenifiss National Park lagoon' of the Khenifiss National Park Associative Network, which seeks the development of ecotourism in the Khenifiss lagoon through the establishment a circuit having no direct impact on the tranquility of migratory birds, has been selected among 109 applications for this trophy. This project is supported by the PPI-OSCAN initiative of the North Africa Programme and aims to produce a zoning map that allows fishermen to avoid nesting areas of migratory birds. In addition, it will also put a tablet with this zoning available to barcassiers. This tablet will also give information on the diversity of bird species in the lagoon and willmbe used for bird watching activities by hikers and for ecotouristic activities. The President of the Khenifiss National Park Associative Network received this trophy from the President of the Mohammed VI Foundation for the Protection of the Environment, this prestigious award is intended to reward innovative ideas for environmental preservation in Morocco. As a reminder, PPI-OSCAN has financed 10 projects in Morocco, including the Khenifiss National Park Associative Network.
