On November 27, the Conama began in the city of Valencia with the presence of more than 500 participants specialized in urban sustainability. Adaptation to climate change in cities, urban rehabilitation, energy transition, management of mobility and the creation of greener cities were some of the subjects addressed during the three-day duration of the congress.
During this event, the IUCN Centre for Mediterranean Cooperation actively participated in a session devoted to the restoration of cities using nature based solutions, where municipal experts explained different strategies carried out for the promotion of biodiversity and the creation of green infrastructures.
In addition, IUCN-Med organized a workshop with representatives of municipal institutions to discuss how to build a network of municipalities interested in generating innovative ways to make cultural values more sustainable. The workshop also stressed the need to establish partnerships that promote solutions based on nature in the context of Mediterranean cities in order to give visibility to good practices and innovative models associated with this concept.
