The IUCN Council has just validated the decision taken by its Bureau to approve the admission of four new Members belonging to the Mediterranean region. These members are: Reseau Association Khnifiss, Association Jeunes Science Kerkennah, Un bosque para el Planeta Tierra and Doğa Koruma Merkezi Vakfi (Nature Conservation Centre Foundation). Reseau Association Khnifiss (Morocco): The Khnifiss Association Network is made up of the khnifiss site and represents a group of associations working in the Khnifiss National Park for the enhancement of its natural and cultural potential and the preservation of its biodiversity. Association Jeunes Science Kerkennah (Tunisia): The Young Science Kerkennah Association is an association for environmental education and sustainable development. It is also a member of the Jeunes Science Tunisie network. Its objectives are: Awareness and improvement of the consciousness of the local population in the face of the environmental problems encountered in the kerkennah islands and the preservation of the natural and cultural heritage of the kerkennah islands. Un bosque para el Planeta Tierra (Spain): A forest for the planet earth is an NGO created with the aim of carrying out actions in favor of the fauna and flora with very specific projects while raising public awareness in the environmental field. Doğa Koruma Merkezi Vakfi (Nature Conservation Centre Foundation) (Turkey): The Nature Conservation Center - shortly called DKM - is a non-governmental organization operating in nature conservation since 2004. The aim of the Nature Conservation Center, based on scientific approaches, ensures that biological diversity is effectively protected and that natural resources are managed in a sustainable manner.The IUCN Centre for Mediterranean Cooperation warmly welcomes these new Members to the Mediterranean region.
