LINKS

Thanks to this alliance, the International Union for the Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources (IUCN) will collaborate with Fundación Cepsa in advising on its environmental projects as well as in the areas of ecological transition and protection of water resources. Cepsa is one of the biggest energy companies in Spain, operating across the entire oil, chemical and gas value chain.

The signing of the agreement took place this month in Madrid with the presence of Cristina Ortiz, director of the Cepsa Foundation, Iñigo Díaz de Espada, vice president of the entity, as well as Antonio Troya, and Mercedes Muñoz Cañas from the IUCN Centre for Mediterranean Cooperation. This event was already followed by a working session.

Thanks to this agreement, IUCN-Med will advise Fundación Cepsa in the planning and development of projects to foster nature conservation and sustainable development. These include:

-Remediation of Laguna Primera de Palos (Huelva)
-Maintenance of the Madrevieja Environmental Station (Cádiz)
-Project SOS Caretta, fishermen for sustainability.
-Conservation of Montagu's harrier and chiroptera in the surroundings of Alijar (Cádiz).
-Restoration of the Anaga Rural Park (Tenerife).
-Conservation measures for the bustard in an environment close to a photovoltaic park.
-Conservation of posidonia meadows: planting of underwater forests
-Plan for plant restoration, improvement and environmental protection of the environment.

In addition, the agreement contemplates that IUCN will offer advice to the Cepsa Foundation on the new strategic axes of its 2022-2025 work programme, including the promotion of activities aimed at promoting the ecological transition and protection of water resources.
