Bangkok Resolutions

IUCN-Med is working on the implementataion of the four resolutions approved by IUCN members at the last World Conservation Congress in Bangkok (November 2004): the Mediterranean mountains; the impact of maritime traffic on marine biodiversity; the consolidation of the Centre for Mediterranean Cooperation; and reinforcement of work in the Mediterranean region.

The Mediterranean Programme is developed and strengthened to support effective delivery of the programme

   

Agreement for cooperation between the Italian Ministry of Environment and IUCN-Med

IUCN-Med has signed an agreement for cooperation with the Italian Ministry of Environment to support southern and eastern Mediterranean governments in the creation of marine protected areas. The agreement also seeks to further the resolutions adopted at Bangkok on the sustainable development of mountainous areas of the Mediterranean and actions to reduce the impact of maritime traffic in Mediterranean waters.
