Mediterranean Solutions – an unprecedented opportunity to accelerate nature-based recovery at IUCN Congress

In a critical moment for the Mediterranean basin and after a summer of extreme weather events, 12 conservation organizations will be joining forces for the first time at the World Conservation Congress held in Marseille from 4 to 9 September. The “Mediterranean Solutions” stand will host a series of on-site and online events to mobilise action for a nature-based recovery across the basin

Under the leadership of the MAVA foundation, the organisations ACCOBAMS, Conservatoire du Littoral, Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund, the IUCN Centre for Mediterranean Cooperation, MedPAN, MedWet, The MedFund, Tour du Valat, UNEP/MAP-SPA/RAC, UNEP/MAP-Plan Bleu and WWF Mediterranean will be gathering at the IUCN Congress to present the current challenges, accomplishments, new initiatives and collaborative work which are taking place in the Mediterranean region.

Launch of TRANSCAP - call for projects to support Civil Society Organizations in the Maghreb





With the support of the General Directorate of Cooperation of the Government of the Balearic Islands, IUCN-Med has launched the new TransCap programme. As Mediterranean communities face environmental and sustainable development challenges, the TransCap programme aims to consolidate the role of Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) supporting environmental conservation in the provinces of the Mediterranean coast of Morocco and Tunisia.

MEDARTSAL promotes the revival of artisanal salinas to stimulate local economy and conserve biodiversity





On International Gastronomy Day, IUCN-Med and the University of Cádiz presented an innovative project dedicated to artisanal Salinas. Three Spanish artisanal Salinas (two in Cádiz, one in Murcia) will benefit from the MedArtSal activities, which were announced during a technical session held in Cádiz.
