LINKS

From 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday the 29th of April various interactive workshops and participative activities regarding environmental education were held in the activities area of the Doñana Natural Life Ecotourism Fair at El Rocío in Huelva province. The focus was on protection of the ecosystem services the protected space provides. Water, soil, sun, biodiversity and the effects of human activity were some of the themes included in the participation dynamics.

The workshops were free and addressed to all publics as actions included in the Life ADAPTAMED project.

The Life ADAPTAMED project came into being with the aim of protecting the ecosystem services provided by three protected spaces in Andalusia: the nature reserves of Sierra Nevada and Doñana and the natural park of Cabo de Gata. It began in 2016 and focuses on developing, evaluating and disseminating adaptive ecosystem management measures that are key for the provision of services such as soil retention, pollinating, pastures, temperature regulation, water supply, prevention of forest fires and prevention of desertification.

These actions have also enhanced the visibility of the European Commission's LIFE programme, Europe's biggest financial instrument for climate and the environment, which this year marks its 25th anniversary.
