Science Fair: public presentation of LIFE ADAPTAMED
LINKS

The 20th Science Fair of Science Park was the setting chosen to present the LIFE ADAPTAMED project to the public. Thousands of people were able to learn about the scientific actions being conducted and their social impact on the surrounding area. For one day the project's representatives joined education and research centres from all the Andalusian provinces in an effort to awaken interest and promote knowledge of science among the public of all ages.

The Science Fair was held to mark the 22nd anniversary of the Science Park Museum on a special open-door day that drew visitors from the entire autonomous community of Andalusia. The public was able to gain a closer understanding of the natural parks involved in LIFE ADAPTAMED: Sierra Nevada, Cabo de Gata and Doñana. The event also marked the 25th anniversary of the European programme LIFE, whose significance was explained to the participants.

The commemorations will join that of International Biodiversity Day on 20-21 May at Science Park, where LIFE ADAPTAMED will also be present. During that weekend the museum will organise a complete programme of activities as part of the European Let it Grow! campaign to boost knowledge of local biodiversity and social awareness for its preservation. This communication strategy is promoted by the European Network of Science Centres and Museums (ECSITE), the European Association of Zoos and Aquaria (EAZA) and Botanic Garden Conservation International (BGCI) with a view to encouraging care and protection of the environment.

It will be a special occasion where citizens can learn about all the work being done in the project to help preserve biodiversity and adapt ecosystem services to global change.

These activities with a major social impact will be joined in coming months by the Window on Science, which will present at Science Park the main research lines and first results of the LIFE Adaptamed project.
