As part of IUCN-Med's Conserving wild plants and habitats for people in the South and East Mediterranean (IPA Med) project, a kickoff workshop to launch the project's activities was held on January 18th and 19th 2016, at the Gouraya National-Park and Biosphere Reserve, to inform stakeholders about the objectives and the expected results of the project and to involve them in the different phases of its implementation.

On this year's World Meteorological Day, the Territorial Delegation of Andalucía, Ceuta and Melilla Meteorological Agency (AEMET) invited the Centre for Mediterranean Cooperation to participate in the event with a presentation on the Challenges related to Climate Change in the Mediterranean. The IUCN Council has just validated the decision taken by its Bureau on January 29th and April 13th 2016 to approve the admission of 48 new Members. Eleven of them belong to the Mediterranean region. The IUCN Centre for Mediterranean Cooperation warmly welcomes these new Members in the Mediterranean region.
